Tutorial: The Open Set Recognition Problem in Information Forensics and Security

Despite the great science progress we have seen in automated methods for information forensics and security, this tutorial presented at WIFS2015 by Prof. Anderson Rocha of RECOD/Unicamp and Prof. Walter Scheirer of University of Notre Dame, focuses on the major gaps between the performance of automated methods in the laboratory and the performance of those same methods in the field.

To do so, the professors presented the open set recognition problem, in which different topics were explored such as: supervised machine learning, probabilistic models, kernel machines, the statistical extreme value theory, and original case studies.
