RECOD student awarded at Brazilian Computer Society theses and dissertations competition

RECOD Ph.D. Tiago Carvalho — supervised by Prof. Anderson Rocha and Prof. Helio Pedrini — has just been awarded second prize at the prestigious Theses and Dissertations Competition of the Brazilian Computer Society (SBC). The dissertation was about the detection of fake images (spoofing) using illumination inconsistencies — an important subject in Digital Forensics.  Digital Forensics is one of the main research interests here at RECOD.

We were happy to learn that the first prize also went to a student of the Institute of Computing, UNICAMP — where RECOD is hosted. Ph.D student Lehilton Pedrosa, supervised by Prof. Flávio Miyazawa, was awarded for his dissertation on combinatorial optimization.
